In Etrian Odyssey series, battles often feels like a fight of endurance. While strolling in a dungeon, imagine yourself trying to defeat an FOE. It’s almost the brink of death for the enemy, though your party’s HP is low but manageable. Suddenly, the FOE summons a bunch of weaklings – easy to tackle actually – but your team is not ready for this. Your healer is busy searching item to unbind his head, while your damage dealer is run out of TP to slash all of them in one turn. The tank is one left, but unable to do anything…
If only s/he had equipped a grimoire stone ahead!
Welcome Grimoire Stones, the key to use skills out of your class’ reach – even enemy ones. It is equippable items, crystals aside from your gauntlets and armors. Have no worry, though the system is brought from Etrian Odyssey Untold, it has been completely overhauled for our upcoming title – Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold.
Have you met Regina already? In her cafe, she will help you equip, trade, and even recycle Grimoire Stones. While you will be collecting those stones from battle, you can easily trade unused one with stones held by the passing explorers you take interest. The other option is to recycle Grimoire Stones you are not fond of – hand them to Regina, take a walk in the dungeon, and by the time you go back to the cafe, she will hand you new one.
Since not every class is able to do slash/pierce/bash attack, Grimoire Stones will bestow new weapon skills on your characters; that means your Protector is able to use Highlander’s spear, or let your Troubadour gets all might with a whip.
