Yes, demon fusing is possible in Shin Megami Tensei IV, and it’s a piece of cake to accomplish. There are two methods in the game to fuse demons. To take advantage of these methods, you will be required to purchase the Demon Fusion app using Burroughs App Points. Players gain Burroughs App Points after leveling up their protagonist.
Demon Fusion App
The Demon Fusion app is one of the cheapest apps that you can get in the game. The app is unlocked early in the game and it installs the Cathedral of Shadows menu. The Cathedral of Shadows menu is where you can fuse demons that you recruited.
How to open the Cathedral of Shadows menu
Follow the instructions below to open the Cathedral of Shadows menu :
- Once you’re in the game, press the “Y” button on the Nintendo 3DS.
- Search and find Mido. Select it.

Note: The resulting demon (eg. Jack the Ripper) will not be higher than the protagonist’s level.

As I mentioned earlier, there are two ways to fuse demons in Shin Megami Tensei IV. The first method is Recommended Fusion, and the second is Fusion Search.
What is Recommended Fusions?
After opening the Cathedral of Shadows menu, there are three handpicked demon fusions by Mido. They’re basically the best demon fusions from the party that you have. You can see the resulting demon from the list and what demons are required to create it.
If you like a fusion, you can fuse the demons right away by selecting it and pressing “A”.
What is Fusion Search?
Fusion Search allows you to create demons by searching for specific criteria. It’s similar to using the advanced search feature of a search engine like Google. There are some pretty nice results that you can find by using Fusion Search that you might not discover from Recommended Fusions.
Press the “Y” button on the Nintendo 3DS to run the search after you enter the your data. You should view a list of resulting demons. Select the demon that you want and press the “A” button. After, you can view what demons you will be fusing to create the new demon. If you wish to proceed, press the “A” button on the Nintendo 3DS.

- Demon to include and demon to exclude
- Top 10 demons
- New demons only
- Race, demon, skill type, skill name, and affinities
- Include compendium
- Exclude element race
A special fusion option is also available in Fusion Search from the Cathedral of Shadows.
