Although Super Smash Bros 4 will not be available until 2014, it did not stop Nintendo from revealing some of its gameplay footage. Half-way through the video, Megaman took the spotlight. You have seen him as eShop titles for the Nintendo 3DS, and now you will also be able to play as him when the game becomes available.
Before that, guess who also made an appearance? A guy from Animal Crossing: New Leaf. No, I’m not kidding. He calls himself, “The Villager”. It is not clear if this character will be playable in the 3DS version of the game, however, he just might be.
Some of the characters shown off in the gameplay trailer are;
- Mario from Super Mario Bros.
- Bowser from Super Mario Bros.
- Link from The Legend of Zelda.
- Samus Aran from Metroid.
- Kirby.
- Fox McCloud from Star Fox.
- Pit from Kid Icarus.
- Donkey Kong.
- Pikachu from Pokemon.
- The Villager from Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
- Megaman
Both ‘Megaman’ and ‘The Villager’ were only shown in the Wii U gameplay – you can tell because of the updated graphics and the lack of 3DS hardware during the footage. Hopefully both of those characters are playable in the 3DS version of the game.

In the second half of the trailer, it shows Megaman in action. Some of his abilities are; metal blade, crash bomber, leaf shield, hard knuckle, flame sword, slash claw, spark shock, super arm, and flame blast. At the ending of the trailer, it showed Megaman facing another character that looks like an over-sized Pacman. Or maybe it’s one of the bosses from one of the classic Megaman games.
