Nintendo 3DS Flash Card Plays 3DS Game ROMs

It was only a matter of time. A legitimate company known as Another Gateway is selling a flash card for the Nintendo 3DS that has the ability to play backed up game ROMs. The company recently published a video showing proof that they gained this ability :

The video above shows a lady playing the following 3DS games with the flash card :

  • Luigi’s Mansion 2
  • Resident Evil: Revelations
  • Super Mario 3D Land

The flash card is dubbed, “Gateway 3DS”. This product is definitely something people will take advantage of to download pirated software (eg. Nintendo 3DS games). According to the company, this flash card works on both 3DS and 3DS XL gaming consoles, and all 3DS ROMs are supported to this date. No price or release date have been revealed, yet.

How to use the Gateway 3DS flash card

To use the Gateway 3DS flash card, the user will be required to insert a microSD card with the 3DS game ROM data into the Gateway 3DS. After, push the card into the 3DS console and you’re all set to play the backed up game.

Now, I’m not a fan of this product because it promotes game piracy. A majority of Nintendo gamers do not have a need of backing up their games, therefore, Another Gateway’s customers (for this flash card) will most likely be people who wishes to download pirated games from the Internet to play. If you choose to do this, Nintendo has the right to brick your system and permanently prevent the 3DS from functioning.
