TROW THAT BALL!

Who said you need to buy a $40 game to enjoy the bowling experience? Nobody!

Smash Bowling 3D - Almost Strike
STRIKE! Wait, no. There is still one left

ABOUT THE GAME
If you want to play a bowling game, you’re at the right place. This small eShop game is all that your need, and it is an excellent example of gameplay being the most important part of the player experience.

You start the game, you create your profile (saved data with your name), and you are ready to start playing.

Smash Bowling 3D Controls
The controls are well made, and you will enjoy both modes.

About the presentation of the game, it’s really simple, nothing special to it. The generic music doesn’t help to the game, the 3D effect isn’t perfect, and graphics are nice. Don’t worry about this to much because the gameplay is better than you think.

The game includes three modes which are career, multiplayer and practice. Of course, if you’re a beginner, it is recommended to try out the practice mode first to learn the ropes of the game.

Smash Bowling 3D Earth Ball
The Earth is nn danger!

When you begin to play the game, you will be given the choice to use one of two different control modes:

The first uses the Touch Screen. You can throw the ball setting four sliders to set with the stylus: Position, Power, Aim and Spin. Later, you will see a line based on the shooting setting, and you have to trace it with the stylus. You will often see a “too slow” or a “too fast” notice, with no explanation about the correct speed, but it will not ruin your gameplay experience.

Smash Bowling 3D Gameplay
The graphics are decent.

The second control mode is a lot easier in my opinion. Some may even find it more satisfying to play. Basically, you use the buttons of the console. Yes, that’s it. Were you expecting more?

14 alleys, 20 different balls and a lot of trophies will make your experience longer. Not to mention that the game has a local turn-based multiplayer mode that is fun to play as well.

Of course, the game isn’t perfect.

VERDICT: 71/100 (Good!)
The game may not have the best graphics, the best music or the best presentation, but it has excellent gameplay and it’s definitely worth the money. If you love bowling games and you own a Nintendo 3DS, you should consider giving this game a try.
